Online course SLO assessments are conducted with SurveyMonkey.com.
Instructors can send their students to another page in this website to take an assessment survey specific to their class "section".
Online assessment surveys can be any of the following:
- informed student self-assessment surveys, based on achievement rubrics
- student self-assessment surveys based on the Likert scale (strongly agree, ...)
- online quiz, directly testing knowledge and/or understanding
Online assessments are available for the following courses.
To see how this works, click on any to view and/or take the sample survey for that course.
It's the same survey that students take.
What's required to do an online assessment
Online assessments are one of the easiest ways to assess a course.
Here's what's required:
- Course SLOs (click HERE to find the SLOs for your course).
- Quiz questions or an achievement rubric for determining the achievement level for each student (or just use the Likert scale).
- Setup a survey on SurveyMonkey.com, or have the SLO Facilitator set it up for you.
- Tell your students the survey URL (www.dvc.edu/survey), your 4-digit section number, and a section-specific 4-digit pass code for the survey.
- Check the results using your SurveyMonkey.com account, or using a section-specific URL provided to you by the SLO Facilitator.
- Review the results with your department chair or designee.
