Judy E. Walters, Ph.D.
Brief biography

Judy E. Walters, Ph.D. is currently the President of Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, one of three colleges in the Contra Costa Community College District. She has over twenty years of experience as a California community college administrator, including:

  • Three years as President of Berkeley City College
  • Five years as the Senior Vice Chancellor of Educational Services at Peralta Community College District
  • Six years as a commissioner for the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges
  • Nine years Vice chancellor Policy Analysis, Management Information Services, and Board of Governors Liaison at the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
  • One year Academic Specialist at the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
  • Two years as a consultant for distance education programs at College of the Redwoods - Fort Bragg Center
  • Two years as a Division Dean at San Diego Mesa College
  • Two years as an Assistant Dean at San Diego Miramar College
  • Three years as a Faculty member on special assignment at San Diego Evening College

Dr. Walters has received numerous awards for her work, including a regional EMMY for "Information a Series" in San Diego and in 2007 was recognized as one of the Women of Distinction for exemplary achievement as an East Bay Business Leader.

Dr. Walters has a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary arts and science with a specialization in leadership and organizational effectiveness from Union Institute and University in Ohio, a master's degree in education from Alliant International University in San Diego, and a bachelor's degree in English from Idaho State University.
